ABOUT
The Greenlandic / Danish architect Aviaaja Ezekiassen works in the field of architecture, exhibition-, interior- & product design. Her references is among others Birger 1962, Moesgaard Museum and Louis Vuitton, and she has been working in Greenland, Norway and Denmark.
With a Bachelor degree in architecture, a Master degree in design and a semester of art photography at Oslo Fotokunstskole Aviaaja combines her skills and methods she has acquired while working with both scales and is passionate about creating an overall connection between the scales. She's driven by incorporating the storytelling in her work. Stories that are told in a subtle and unobtrusive way with focus on aesthetics, form language, natural material combinations, colors and tactile surfaces.
In February Aviaaja started a project about greenlandic design at a residency at Danish Art Workshop. The project aims to find answers in what characterise Greenlandic design through historic research, interviews and experiments. The research is in order to (re)define Greenlandic design in a contemporary perspective. As Aviaaja also has a Danish background she wants to try to merge danish design traditions with Greenlandic design traditions to see what happens in this meeting.
Aviaaja can be booked for lectures. Please send an email for inquiries.
EMPLOYER
"She has a strong eye and sense for details, good quality and is pro-active on issue. She solves the daily problems, and makes things not possible, possible. She is team player and a strong young woman born in Greenland and has a very special mind and soul. She has patience! I believe that her strength built on her upbringing. Her sense “cutting into the bone” is something I have valued. She is a modern woman, with many possibilities ahead." Malene Birger, BIRGER1962
Peter Barfoed, Tegnestuen Nuuk
